Sander Maarschalkerweerd

Sander Maarschalkerweerd is a recognized specialist in mergers and acquisitions and joint-ventures. Over the past years he has worked on a large number of national and cross-border transactions and restructuring cases. In addition, Sander has deep expertise and a strong track-record in corporate litigation, where he assists both private and listed companies in relation to shareholder and joint-venture disputes, shareholder buy-out procedures, post M&A disputes and corporate inquiries and investigations. In this context, Sander was involved in landmark cases before the Enterprise Chamber of the Amsterdam Court of Appeal (Ondernemingskamer), such as the takeover battle on Telegraaf Media Groep, the rescue of Inter Access Group and the takeover dispute concerning ABN AMRO Bank.

Sander received his master’s degree in Dutch law from the University of Groningen in 2000, which also included a fall semester at the University of Wisconsin Law School (Madison, USA). He subsequently worked for an NGO in the Niger Delta (Port Harcourt, Nigeria), before being admitted to the Amsterdam Bar in 2001.

Apart from his native language (Dutch), Sander is fluent in English and has a working knowledge of German and French.
