Sander Maarschalkerweerd is a recognized specialist in M&A, with over two decades of experience on Dutch and cross-border transactions. He primarily represents international companies and private equity firms, guiding them through complex deals with precision and strategic insight.

 

In addition, Sander has a strong track record in corporate dispute resolution, assisting companies and their stakeholders with shareholder and joint-venture disputes, as well as governance-related issues. His expertise is particularly notable in inquiry proceedings before the Enterprise Chamber of the Amsterdam Court of Appeal (Ondernemingskamer), where he has been involved in several landmark cases, including the takeover battle for Telegraaf Media Groep, the rescue of Inter Access Group, and the takeover dispute concerning ABN AMRO Bank.

Sander earned his master’s degree in Dutch law from the University of Groningen in 2000, which included a fall semester at the University of Wisconsin Law School (Madison, USA). Before being admitted to the Amsterdam Bar in 2001, he worked for an NGO in the Niger Delta, Port Harcourt, Nigeria.

 

In addition to his native Dutch, Sander is fluent in English and has a working knowledge of French and German.
